Karen Jackman
Karen Jackman is an experienced writer and editor of the Australian parents' publication KindyNews.
KindyNews is aimed at parents of kids aged seven and under and is local, homegrown community publication with a loyal strong following in the Brisbane in particular. Karen moved to Australia from South Africa in 1999 and launched a nationally distributed expat newspaper, the SA Independent .
The paper turned out be a big hit and, after four years, she sold it to follow her dreams to travel in South East Asia. She wandered Asia and other interesting bits of the globe until returning to Australia in late 2009.
Karen has developed a unique interviewing style which is highly sought after in the investigative industry. Her approach is ethical, unobtrusive, sincere, and puts interviewees at ease, allowing her to collect relevant and accurate information quickly and efficiently.
This information is converted into relevant, well-written factual reports for clients.
Karen has worked for mainstream print media titles and companies such as Independent Newspapers, London Newspaper Group, South China Morning Post, Hong Kong Standard, International Herald Tribune, WTN TV, Straits Times, Expat Magazine, Big Chili Magazine, Business Times, and Tatler Magazine Singapore. In the online environment, apart from writing for Suite101, Karen has also written for Demand Media and EHow.com, among others.
She is also a talented artist, a pastime she took up about five years ago. Since then, she has contributed to public art projects in Australia, art fairs, and even sold one or two paintings!
